What is the glass fire bowl made of?

The fire bowls are made of 100% high purity quartz glass. Quartz glass is mainly made from natural sand. The special purity (99.998% silicon dioxide) is found only in a few places on earth. At very high temperatures, through hot chemical processes and under clean room conditions, this valuable natural raw material is prepared for our fire bowls.

What is the manufacturing and the processing process of the glass fire bowl?

Manufacturing process:

In the manufacture of our fire bowls, natural crystalline sand is melted in quartz glass at extremely high temperatures (>3.000°C).

Under protective gas, the sand is melted layer by layer in a graphite crucible with a short electric arc.

In this process, even the smallest chemical abnormalities soften and become very small (<2mm) spots in our fire bowls. These do not affect the temperature resistance and the strength of the glass, rather they show the natural origin of this product.

Processing process:

Our fire bowls are made especially environmentally friendly. This is achieved through the self-insulating function of the quartz sand. While the sand is being melted in the mold, the outer layer provides permanent insulation. This saves a considerable amount of energy. This effect also ensures the beautiful marbling on the outer wall of our fire bowls.

Following the melting process, the edge is cut straight and provided with a protective phase. After a final quality control, the fire bowls are packed break-proof and then make their way to you.

What do I have to pay attention to when handling?

Please do not throw pieces of wood or other objects into the tray. Place combustion material in it carefully. And please also make sure to handle carefully, especially children.

With which fuels can I operate the glass fire bowl?

For use are suitable almost all types of wood such as: Beech, oak, ash, birch or other types of deciduous trees with appropriate drying. If possible, do not use wood with resin (e.g. spruce). This type of wood emits more sparks when burnt and the resin may cause baked residue.

Please avoid:

Wood that has been pressure-treated or euro pallets. The wood surface must not have been treated.
Wood waste containing paint, glue or varnish
Domestic waste (milk cartons, egg cartons, plastic, paper, e.g. newspapers or advertising leaflets)
Building site waste containing screws or nails as well as residue from chipboards or plasterboard

How to clean the glass fire bowl?

Due to the smooth inner surface, the glass fire bowl can be easily cleaned of soot and dirt with water. Fireplace cleaner can be taken supportively with it.
